
Dr. Albrecht Bürger, born in 1955, works as a Senior Vice President in the Cash Market Development area of Deutsche Börse AG. He concentrates on business relationship with Emerging Markets especially in Russia/CIS as well as in Central Europe.
Dr. Bürger started his career in 1975 at Deutsche Bank AG where he was trained to become a bank officer. After graduating from law school, he continued to work for Deutsche Bank. In 1986, he joined the Federation of German Stock Exchanges where he served as Assistant to the Managing Director and as Head of the International Relations Department. From 1993 to 1994, he held the same position within Deutsche Börse AG. From 1994 until 2001, Dr. Bürger served as Managing Director of FBF (Corporation for the Development of Stock Exchanges and Financial Markets in Central and Eastern Europe). The focus of FBF’s activities are consulting services for stock exchanges and governments in Central and Eastern European countries, sponsored by funds of the German Federal Government, the EU and other international donors.
In April 2001 Dr. Bürger was appointed as a Member of the Executive Board of NEWEX® Börse AG, Vienna, an exchange especially designed for the trading of stocks from Central and Eastern Europe.
Dr. Bürger has been admitted to the German bar and holds a doctorate degree in capital market law. He also holds an Honorary Doctor’s degree in economics of the Slavonian University, Kiev, Ukraine.
